His Owner Died, Not One Family Stepped Forward To Care for 10-years Old Senior Pup Living in Kill Shelter

Over the past month, all Willy has known is the pain, and heartache, that comes along with losing a loved one. Sadly, Willy’s owner passed away, and after a family member called the police to do a welfare check after relatives had not heard from him in a week, he was found unresponsive and declared dead at the scene.

According to my source familiar with Willy’s case, the devoted and loyal pup positioned himself right next to his owner’s body, refusing to leave his side, hoping and praying he might wake up again. Unfortunately, that wasn’t to be.

Willy, who is enduring a kennel run at the high kill, underfunded Carson Animal Shelter in Gardena, California, has completely shut down emotionally after shelter patrons routinely pass him up, in favor of younger dogs. Worse, shelter staff spent hours calling family members related to his owner, and all have rejected him, shooting down plea’s made on his behalf to adopt him. Sad indeed.

A Petharbor listing for Willy reads,

“I am described as a neutered male, tricolor Welsh Corgi – Cardigan mix. The shelter thinks I am about 10 years old.”

Speak Up! a kill shelter is no way for a dog who is suffering unimaginable pain, from the sting of rejection. Thankfully, Willy has you. If you or someone you know is interested in giving this precious pup the forever family he rightfully deserves, please contact the Los Angeles County Animal Control – Carson at (310) 523-9566, and reference the shelter ID #A5041839.
